Local 111 has been voted one of America’s best 25 farm-to-table restaurants
Local 111 Restaurant, in Philmont, has been voted one of America’s “… best 25 farm-to-table restaurants” by Best Life Magazine.
Best Life Magazine, a Rodale publication, invited a panel of food luminaries in the sustainable agriculture movement to make the selection. The jurors included such well-known figures as Frances Moore Lappe, author of “Diet for a Small Planet”, and Patrick Martins, cofounder of Heritage Foods USA.
Local 111 was one of only 6 restaurants in New York State to receive the honor. The full listing of restaurants can be found in the February 2009 issue of the magazine.
The restaurant, located at 111 Main Street in the village of Philmont, is an adaptive reuse of a service station. It is open for dinner from Wednesday through Sunday evenings. A café-style menu in also available in the mornings.
The kitchen sources its ingredients from some of the best farms in Columbia County, including The Farm at Miller’s Crossing, Ry-Ky Ranch, Grazin' Angus Acres, Hawthorne Valley Farm, Threshold Farm and The Old Chatham Sheepherding Company.
